This session is the second of a three-part webinar series for the youth community, hosted by the Chicago and San Francisco Employment and Training (ETA) offices but open to all, to inspire strategic planning and action now in anticipation of the July 1, 2015 implementation date of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
As you prepare to deliver expanded services to youth under WIOA, come hear from a few of your peers who will share work experience models that are outcome-driven and evidence-based solutions for your possible replication. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act places a new priority on work-based learning by providing that at least 20 percent of local youth formula funds be used for work experiences such as: summer and year-round employment opportunities, pre-apprenticeship programs, on-the-job training, and internships and job shadowing. During this webinar, WIA formula funded youth programs, YouthBuild, Conservation Corps, Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship programs will be highlighted for the innovative approaches they have taken to implementing work-based learning models into their programming. Come build off these successes – steal what you can and spark conversation around what else will work in your area.
