Promoting Self-Determined Futures is a one-day TASH regional conference that focuses on the successful transition from school to adult life for youth with significant disabilities. This conference will be held April 12, 2013, at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island.
Promoting Self-Determined Futures will highlight evidence-based practices in facilitating and supporting self-direction, including a comprehensive exploration of Education, Post Secondary Education, Employment, Community Living and Guardianship, and issues essential to improved transition for youth with significant disabilities. Participants will engage with field experts through a series of discussions and how-to workshops, and learn the philosophy and values that guide successful practice.
Participants will also gain an understanding of cultural responsiveness, areas of need related to diversity and cultural competency, and ways to promote supportive environments across differing cultures and perspectives.
